I don’t know anything about Pokemon, but Pokemon hats are on the requested list from the hospital, especially for the older kids. This hat design is part of the many hats I’m designing for my Crafting Blessing group. We are making hats for the local children’s hospital and for local kids with hair loss from Alopecia.
This pattern is great for beginners or advanced loom knitters. This size hat on the 36 peg loom will usually fit ages 2 years old – adults, depending on the length of the hat.
The final length of the hat I made in this tutorial was 7.75″, which fits my 5 & 6.5 year olds perfectly. Make it longer or shorter to fit your needs. Note: depending on the yarn you are using and other variables, your length may be different. Measure the hat as you go until desired length. The middle black band is roughly .75″ wide. Minus that from your total desired length and divide that by 2 to get the length of the white and red sections. For example: 7.75″ desired length – .75″ black band = 7″. Divide 7″ by 2 = 3.5″ for the white and 3.5″ for the red sections.
You can use this pattern on any size loom with an even number of pegs. I like the 48 peg (5/8″ gauge) Knitting Board loom for larger women or average men. For odd numbered looms, you will have to adjust the pattern. I would suggest ending each K2, P2 row with an extra P1, and for every P2, K2 row, end with an extra K1.
I used the 12 peg flower loom (I like the Darice brand best) for the circle in the center.
For the yarn I used:
White & Black: 1 strand of #5 chunky:

Loops & Treads Charisma – Black: https://amzn.to/2TYc59B
Red: 2 strands of #4 worsted weight yarn
I used: I love this Yarn! brand from Hobby Lobby – #40 Red
For any of the colors, you can also use 1 strand of #5 or #6 chunky OR 2 strands of #4 worsted weight. You can use any white, red and black yarn such as Red Heart Super Saver, Red Heart With Love, etc: https://amzn.to/2MHdIpn
Also any basic black and white, such as Bernat Softee Chunky or Hometown yarn: https://amzn.to/2Ti9yqy
